Juan Manuel Castro explores the potential of biological interfaces and synthetic ecologies upon artistic practice. BIOGRAPHY As well as hybrid architectures with biological materials, Juan M. Castro has been involved in the visualization of biological information in real-time and the creation of interactive installations. Born in Bogota (Colombia), he is currently living and working in Tokyo. Postdoctoral research fellow, he is investigating the impact of emerging biological interfaces as method to explore actual hybrid symbiosis. In 2008 he founded Biodynamic geometries and since its inception he has developed an international exhibition program of biomedia art installations. RESEARCH PROJECT

BIOGRAPHY b1971. Hideo is working in the fields of both biological science and contemporary visual art. He obtained Ph.D. in biological sciences from Nagoya University, and is currently Associate Professor and the Head of Laboratory for Molecular Cell Network & Biomedia Art at Waseda University in Tokyo (since 2005), and a PRESTO Researcher of Japan Science & Technology Agency (2007-2011). As an artist, he has produced contemporary papercut art in which abstract patterns are combined to be exhibited as three-dimensional installation.
